Clinical Pathologist

This position will be the Clinical Pathologist for Incyte Diagnostics.  This position must fulfill the responsibilities as listed in CLIA ’88 (42.C.F.R. §493.1495).

This position is responsible for hospital and clinical lab leadership and project management responsibilities.  Additional responsibilities may be defined by applicable laws and regulations.

  • Advance Medical Degree (MD, DO, or MD/ Ph.D.)
  • Certified by the American Board of Pathology

  1. 3-5 years’ experience in a laboratory setting
  2. Board certification, training or experience in a specialized field (Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology, Immunology or Informatics)
  3. A 3-5 year post-graduation working experience in academia or community hospital setting is strongly favored.

  1. Laboratory Medical Director for Clinical Pathology
  • Be the go-to expert in Clinical Pathology for Incyte Diagnostics
  • Take a leading role in establishing and improving overall Clinical Pathology services for Incyte Diagnostics
  • Perform review of related clinical pathology results and quality control and assurance documents     
  • Participate in departmental professional Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities, e.g., Pathologist Competency Assessment Program??
  • Interact with ordering physicians who request to speak with a pathologist
  • Maintain timely contact with other pathologists and physicians, to be responsive to their needs and to respond in a timely manner to their requests for consultation concerning test methodology and clinical correlation of Incyte Diagnostics testing services
  • Responsible for maintaining competency in the area(s) of diagnostic ability.  This implies active participation in continuing education programs

  • Fulfilling all responsibilities of clinical laboratory medical director
  1. Partner with the quality management team to develop, implement and maintain SOPs and appropriate compliance activities
  • Assuming an essential role in clinical lab quality management
  • Working closely with lab staff on quality improvement projects
  • Evaluating and upgrading lab quality benchmarks
  1. Project Management
  • Demonstrate ability in taking initiatives, strategically plan and implement
  • Use problem-solving skills to manage people and complete projects effectively
  1. Writing articles and making presentations
  • Participate in writing publications
  • Exhibit capacity to cater presentations to fit the audience
  • Participate in staff and clinician education
  • Create programs and present at conferences
  1. Participate in company-wide committees
  • Support company-wide marketing initiatives
  • Assist in any special projects such as test method validation, reference range standardization, safety and quality assurance
  • Assist Incyte Diagnostics in professional liaison with professional societies concerned with clinical laboratory medicine
  • May provide assistance to junior level staff with more complex tasks that require a higher level of understanding of functions
  • Aid in the development of a forward facing vision and support and implementation of the laboratory
  • Supports and maintains the quality assurance program
  1. Maintains knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations
  • This includes professional medical associations, governmental agencies and other regulatory bodies concerned with the nature and scope of clinical laboratory business

Mental/Physical Requirements
Daily activity is 90% sitting and 10% walking or standing, and being able to travel within Incyte territory for up to 50% of the time

Work Environment
Work is in a well-lighted office environment.
Repetitive motions, light lifting (<20 lbs.)
